Wisdom of Solomon

(Amelia's Journey)
2004-07-16

Amelia & George the night before she leaves on her around the world flight in1937.
“THE WISDOM OF SOLOMON (MAN PLANS, GOD LAUGHS)”

AMELIA:
There are times we don’t feel each other’s pain
There are weeks we’re both lost on our own
I know there’re days I feel I’ve misplaced my brain
When I say things that I want to disown

CHORUS:
Don’t always have the wisdom of Solomon
I’m left without a single clue
Sometimes the words don’t make it to my tongue
But I love you. That’s the God’s honest truth

GEORGE:
There are walls that I’ve built and I hide behind
There’s a part that I’ve been known to play
I’ve worn the mask disguise and I’ve said my lines
But I don’t know all the right words to say

BRIDGE:
I plan it all to the last detail & say it’s gonna be fine
I have the gall to say we can’t fail as if I controlled our lives
I stroke your hair and say a prayer I look at posed photographs
But this might be our epitaph, in the end man plans, God laughs

CHORUS: (repeat)

BOTH:
CODA: You plan it all to the last detail & say it’s gonna be fine
You have the gall to say we can’t fail as if you control our lives
You stroke my hair and say a prayer, you look at posed photographs
But this might be our epitaph, in the end man plans, God laughs
Man plans, God laughs.
