Spread Your Wings
(Amelia's Journey)
2003-10-01
Schenker-Terry-Starr
George Putnam, at his first meeting with Amelia Earhart in 1928, tries to convince her to be the first female to cross the Atlantic Ocean by air, even though she would be a passenger, not the pilot. The song is performed as the second song in the play.
“Spread Your Wings”
Intro: Do you want adventure, a guarantee of fame? Don’t you want a life that breathes excitement everyday? Do you want a challenge or are you just content to let your life go slipping by ‘til you don’t know where it went.
V: I’m looking for a woman just like you, a hero for the red, the white, the blue
Someone to be strong & be brave, as a suitable icon for the age
CH: Spread your wings, fly over the ocean. Spread your wings & take to the sky
Raise your mind, soar to the heavens. Don’t let life go flying by
V: I gaze into my magic crystal ball. I see you standing tall, I see it all.
You will lift us high off the ground, beyond all of your dreams, all your doubts
CHORUS (repeat)
BR: You must think beyond the clouds. Bright as the sun, clear as the rain
Think as you’ve never thought before. Opportunity may never come again.
CH (repeat twice)
Are you ready to take a chance? Rise up!
Spread your wings, spread your wings & fly
